About Chain Mosaic
Chain begins with one of the simplest expressions of connection. A single link has limited purpose. Join it to another and another, and something far stronger emerges.
The idea moves easily between very different worlds. Heavy mooring chains hold ships against the movement of water, while the delicate links of a Belcher chain belong to jewellery. One is engineered for enormous loads, the other for adornment. Yet both depend on exactly the same principle: individual elements gaining purpose through connection.
That sense of togetherness sits at the heart of Chain. The continuous link becomes more than a motif. It suggests dependence, continuity and the quiet strength that comes from things working collectively.
There is also a universal appeal to the form. Chains cross boundaries between industry, fashion and decoration with remarkable ease. Enlarged, they can feel robust and mechanical. Refined, they become intricate and precious. The underlying idea never really changes.
Chain plays with those shifts in association. Its scale gives the familiar link a stronger graphic presence, while repetition turns connection into pattern. There is no obvious beginning or end, only one element leading inevitably to the next.
For a design built around links, individuality is almost beside the point. Its character comes from what happens when everything joins together.
