Curl is built from a single gesture, repeated with quiet conviction until it settles into the architecture. What begins as an individual motif gradually dissolves into rhythm. The eye no longer reads the shape itself, only the measured pace with which it moves across the surface.

The design owes as much to printmaking as it does to mosaic. Repetition becomes the medium, while variation comes from light, colour and distance. Stand close and every 20 × 10mm glass tessera reveals itself with remarkable precision. Step back and the individual pieces recede, allowing the pattern to emerge as a continuous field rather than a collection of parts.

This shift between scale and perception gives Curl its character. It feels composed without becoming static, decorative without demanding attention. There is an ease to the geometry that invites architecture to take the lead instead of competing with it.

Milano’s pressed glass reinforces that sense of clarity. The glossy surface catches enough light to define each piece, yet never distracts from the larger composition. Tonal colourways further soften the graphic structure, allowing the pattern to move effortlessly between quiet restraint and richer expression.

Curl has no obvious centre and no prescribed direction. It simply continues, making it equally convincing across a single wall, an entire room or a floor that extends beyond the edge of the eye. The pattern adapts because its strength lies in continuity rather than composition.

Like many enduring ideas, Curl asks very little of the viewer. It rewards time instead. The longer you look, the more the surface reveals itself, not through complexity, but through the confidence of a simple idea, carefully resolved.
