About Stripe Round Mosaic
Few patterns carry the memory of a decade quite like the diagonal stripe. During the 1980s, it seemed capable of finding its way onto almost anything. Bedding, wallpaper, sportswear and graphics all embraced the angle. Even the stripes running along the side of a car rarely escaped without being tipped towards the horizon.
The diagonal was an important part of that visual language. A horizontal stripe could feel settled, while a vertical one brought its own formality. Put the same line at an angle and it immediately suggested movement. There was speed in it, even when nothing was moving.
Stripe Round revisits that particular moment without trying to recreate an eighties interior. The reference is more about attitude. Diagonal lines brought energy to otherwise simple surfaces, turning the most elementary form of decoration into something more expressive.
The round mosaic shifts the idea again. Instead of a continuous painted or woven line, each stripe is assembled from individual points. This breaks the diagonal into a sequence, creating a subtle tension between the circular pieces and the direction they collectively describe.
There is something wonderfully specific about the diagonal stripe. It belongs to a much longer decorative tradition, yet one particular angle can still summon an entire period. Stripe Round plays with that recognition, taking a familiar piece of 1980s visual culture and translating it into mosaic.
