About Escalate Mosaic
Escalate comes from watching escalators cross through large public spaces. Airports, railway stations and shopping centres often stack them in opposing directions. Each carries people towards somewhere else, creating a choreography built entirely around movement.
These structures have a peculiar energy. Unlike stairs, they never wait for anyone. Their steps continue travelling, whether occupied or empty. People join briefly, move through the building, then disappear into another level or space.
That sense of direction became the starting point for Escalate. Lines cross and change course, suggesting several journeys happening simultaneously. There is no single route through the pattern, much like the circulation systems that inspired it.
Escalators also belong to a particular language of modern public architecture. They make complicated buildings easier to navigate while turning movement itself into part of the experience. From an upper level, their intersecting paths can become surprisingly graphic.
Escalate takes that moment of organised movement and holds onto its momentum. The destination matters less than the simple pleasure of going somewhere.
