About Connection Chevron
Chevron is one of those patterns that seems to belong everywhere. It appears across textiles, floors, architecture and decorative arts, constantly adapting to different periods and materials.
The traditional chevron usually relies on a fairly decisive point. Two lines meet, change direction and continue, giving the pattern its familiar energy. For Connection, I wanted to see what happened when that point became much less assertive.
Chevron therefore uses a shallower angle at the apex. It is a small adjustment, but it changes the character of the familiar geometry. The zigzag remains, although its usual sharpness gives way to something softer and more relaxed.
I like the idea of taking such a well known motif and making one simple alteration. There is no need to reinvent it completely. Its familiarity is part of what makes the experiment work.
That gentler meeting point also creates an odd contradiction. Chevron still relies entirely on straight lines and angles, yet the overall impression feels unexpectedly fluid.
Hard angles have, in effect, become soft. The classic chevron remains recognisable, but its familiar geometry has loosened up a little.
