About Connection Diamond

Diamond is one of the most familiar geometric patterns, although it rarely feels as hard as its straight sides might suggest. Much of that comes from its long association with textiles.

Quilting is an obvious reference. Diamonds appear naturally within stitched cloth, where geometry gains softness from fabric, padding and the slight irregularities of handwork. The shape feels ordered without becoming severe.

That textile connection was what interested me with Diamond. Translating the form into porcelain changes the material completely, yet some of that softness remains. It feels quite different from the harder geometry of squares, grids and sharper angular patterns.

There is also an ease to the diamond that comes from familiarity. We have seen it in quilts, upholstery, fashion and decorative textiles for generations. It carries those associations without needing to quote any particular period or style.

For Connection, Diamond is deliberately simple. There is no attempt to complicate a shape that already has such a rich decorative history.
Sometimes the most familiar geometry offers enough on its own.
