About Castle Mosaic

Castle takes its starting point from the medieval keep, where walls, courtyards and defensive boundaries create geometry almost by accident. Seen from above, all that formidable architecture becomes an arrangement of squares within squares.

There is a pleasing shift when that idea moves into stone and gold. The stone retains something of the original reference, while gold takes it somewhere less austere. Medieval architecture was never entirely about bare stone. Precious metals, decorated objects and rich surfaces belonged to that world too, particularly within its more important interiors.

That combination suits Castle rather well. Its geometry has a certain formality, but gold prevents it from becoming too severe. Instead, the pattern moves between the solidity of its architectural origins and the decorative richness that often existed alongside them.

It is this unlikely pairing that gives Castle its character. A pattern inspired by fortification becomes decorative, while one of history’s most precious materials finds its place within a geometry born from defence.
