Invaders

Invaders has always been one of the more playful patterns in the collection. Its origins lie firmly in early arcade graphics. Those wonderfully basic pixel characters turned the limitations of primitive screens into an instantly recognisable visual language.

Mosaic makes a natural companion to that world. Long before pixels arrived, images were already being assembled from tiny individual units. Invaders brings those two ideas together, connecting an ancient decorative technique with a very modern form of nostalgia.

Gold pushes the combination somewhere unexpected. A motif associated with arcade machines and glowing screens suddenly finds itself rendered in a material with centuries of decorative history. The contrast feels knowingly extravagant rather than reverential.
