About Stitch Ribbon
Ribbon comes from one of those simple movements that is surprisingly difficult to capture when it stops. A loose length of fabric rarely stays straight for long. It curls, dips and rises almost without effort.
That easy movement became the idea behind the pattern. The line appears to wander, as though a ribbon has caught a little air and begun billowing through a regular sequence of curves.
There is no complicated reference behind it. I like the familiarity of a ribbon doing what ribbons naturally do. We understand its movement almost instinctively, even when the material itself has disappeared.
Flattening that movement into porcelain introduces a small contradiction. The flowing line remains easy to follow, yet everything that might have created it has gone. There is no fabric, breeze or depth, only the memory of their effect.
Ribbon is really about holding onto that moment. The material may be completely still, but the line seems to have other ideas.
