The Colours

About Stitch Squat

Squat is about as simple as it gets. It is a rectangle, stacked in rows, with no great ambition to pretend it is anything else.

There are no optical tricks here. Nothing folds, ripples or appears to disappear behind something else. The rectangles simply sit together and get on with it.

That leaves colour to have all the fun. With very little happening in the geometry, even small changes in colour can completely alter its character. Keep things close and Squat becomes wonderfully quiet. Push the contrast and it suddenly becomes much more decorative.

I like that such an ordinary shape can change so much without actually changing at all. The rectangle stays exactly where it is. Colour does the rest.

Within a collection full of shapes doing rather clever things, Squat feels refreshingly straightforward. It stacks up, behaves itself and lets colour take over.
